About This Activity

Waterfall Sauna offers wood-fired sauna experiences with cold water immersion facilities including a plunge pool (1m depth), waterfall, and spring-fed roll-top bath. This is a self-directed experience - while staff are on-site, they do not supervise individual sessions. You are responsible for your own safety and wellbeing throughout your visit.

Before You Arrive 

To ensure a safe session, please: 

  • Remove all jewelry, watches, piercings, and metal accessories - these become extremely hot in the sauna 

  • Avoid clothing with metal elements (underwires, zippers, buttons) 

  • Bring drinking water - stay hydrated before, during, and after (you can refill water bottles by reception and the main campsite facilities

  • Leave electronic devices outside - phones and smart watches can malfunction or catch fire in extreme heat 

  • Check our accessibility information - the site includes uneven terrain, steps, and limited space; please contact us if you'd like to discuss

The Risks You Should Understand

Sauna and cold water immersion carry inherent risks, including but not limited to:

Heat exposure risks:

  • Overheating, dehydration, dizziness, fainting, heat exhaustion

  • Burns from hot surfaces (wood burner, stones, hot water tap, sauna benches)

  • Steam burns when pouring water on hot stones

Cold water risks:

  • Cold shock response, hyperventilation, increased heart rate and blood pressure

  • Hypothermia with prolonged exposure

  • Cardiac stress from rapid temperature changes

Physical environment risks:

  • Slippery surfaces around water facilities and inside sauna when wet

  • Grass in outdoor area can get muddy and slippery during bad weather

  • The waterfall is a natural feature which has a slippery approach with uneven surfaces, variable water flow, and risk of falling rocks or debris

  • Tripping hazards on uneven ground and steps

  • Drowning risk in plunge pool (1m depth)

  • Burns from wood burner and open fire

Other risks:

  • Adverse reactions if you have underlying medical conditions

  • Injury from failing to follow safety rules

  • Risks associated with operating wood-burning equipment

Medical Conditions - Important

You should not use these facilities, or should consult your doctor first, if you have any of the following:

  • Heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, or cardiovascular disease

  • Pregnancy

  • Epilepsy or seizure disorders

  • Diabetes

  • Recent surgery or injuries

  • Respiratory conditions

  • Skin conditions aggravated by heat

  • Any condition requiring regular medication that affects heat tolerance, blood pressure, or circulation

  • Taking medications that affect heat tolerance, blood pressure, or circulation 

  • Recent surgery or metal implants, pins, or rods

  • Any medical condition that could be worsened by extreme heat or cold

If in doubt, consult your GP before participating.

Safety Rules You Must Follow

By agreeing to this waiver, you agree to follow all safety rules, including:

  •  Do not stay in the sauna longer than 20 minutes at a time (5-15 minutes recommended)

  • Allow your body to cool between sessions 

  • Keep water bottles outside the sauna to prevent overheating

  • Never use the sauna alone - always bring at least one other person

  • Exit immediately if you feel unwell, dizzy, or uncomfortable

  • Never leave the wood burner door open

  • Only use wood or firelighters in the burner

  • Never touch stones, hot water tap, or surfaces above the burner with bare hands

  • Be extremely careful when pouring water on stones - steam can cause burns

  • Walk slowly - never run between sauna, pool, and waterfall

  • Never jump into the plunge pool - it's slippery and only 1m deep

  • Never fall asleep in the sauna

  • No pets in the sauna

  • Sit on a towel, not directly on benches

  • No food, drink, or smoking inside the sauna

  • Remove makeup, perfume, and glitter before using facilities

  • No children under 16. Children under 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times and have consent from a parent / guardian to participate

Your Responsibilities

By participating, you confirm that you:

  • Are 18 years or older

  • Are in good physical and mental health and have no medical conditions that would make this activity unsafe

  • Have read and understood all safety information provided

  • Will follow all safety rules and instructions from staff

  • Will monitor your own wellbeing and exit if you feel unwell

  • Understand that staff are on-site but not supervising your session

  • Accept responsibility for your own safety and the safety of any minors in your care

  • Will not use the facilities while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs

  • Understand the risks described above and voluntarily choose to participate

Assumption of Risk

I understand that using sauna and cold plunge facilities involves inherent risks that cannot be eliminated regardless of the care taken. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation, including those risks described above and any other risks inherent to the activity.

Agreement

I confirm that:

  • I am 18 years or older

  • I am medically fit to participate in sauna and cold water immersion, or I have consulted my doctor

  • I have read, understood, and will follow all safety rules

  • I understand the risks including heat exposure, cold water immersion, slippery surfaces, hot surfaces, and fire

  • I understand staff are on-site but not supervising my session

  • I voluntarily assume all risks and take full responsibility for my safety

  • I will ensure any minors in my care are supervised at all times and are medically fit to participate
