Site Overview
Willow Springs is a rural campsite in the Afan Valley with natural, uneven terrain. We've outlined the access considerations below.
Getting Here:
Address: Llwyn Y Ffynnon Farm, Glyncorrwg, Neath Port Talbot SA13 3DB
To reach the campsite you will drive along a gravel driveway (for about 450m) which may be uneven.
Parking
All parking is on gravel like surfaces which can be uneven
There is on-site parking available outside of reception
Each camping pitch except pitch 9 has it’s own designated parking
Sauna guests can use designated parking spaces located next to the sauna area.
There are no designated accessible parking spaces, as parking is distributed around site and designated through each booking.
Approach from parking:
Surface type: gravel paths/grass/mud when wet
there is a gentle slope along the road that runs through the campsite.
Camping pitches are level but ground may be uneven in places
From the entrance of the campsite (furthest camping pitch) to the main facilities is 200m
Terrain:

This is a natural woodland campsite with:
Uneven ground throughout
Tree roots and natural obstacles
Potential for mud in wet weather
Slopes in some areas
Gravel and grass paths
Facilities Access
Reception/Main Building
There is a wooden deck outside reception which is 30cm above the carpark level. This has 2x steps at the lowest end.
The main door into reception is 110cm wide and there is a low threshold.
There is a counter at 90cm high.
Automatic lighting is installed outside reception and good task lighting is provided inside.
Bathrooms (3 family-sized)
Step-free access

No grab rails
Shower type: step-over tray
No emergency cord present
Washing up area
There is 280cm wide opening into the washing up area
2x washing up sinks are both at 90cm counter levels
Good automatic task lighting is provided
Recycling & Drying Room
There is a 100cm wide opening into the recycling area with a low threshold
All rubbish must be separated into the recycling bins, posted through slots in the 90cm high worktop
Good automatic task lighting is provided
There is a 15cm step into the drying room
Hanging rails are provided at low level and high level
The freezer for icepack exchange is located in the drying room
Lounge
There are 2x 100cm wide opening into the lounge
Seating is provided
There is a table tennis table
Low lighting is provided by fairy lights
Campsite Pitches
Pitch 9 is the closest to the main campsite facilities including toilets, washing up area, recycling, and drying room. It is a tents only pitch and doesn’t have a hardstanding for vehicles, but the main campsite parking is located adjacent to it.
Pitch 6 and pitch 8 have extra wide hard standings as well as an area of grass
Shepherd's Huts Clover & Daisy
**Note: Huts are elevated structures accessed via steps
There are 6 steps to reach hut landing / porch. There are 2 handrails but the steps are quite steep
There are double doors. The master door is 70cm wide
The total floor area is 228cm x 410cm
The double beds raise up to the ceiling on counterweights like a sash window. When deployed the bed is 90cm high
Under the bed, 4 chairs are arranged around a 70cm high table
There is also a 60cm x 200cm fixed worktop at 90cm high
A small double fouton is also included
Electric heating is provided
Shepherd's Hut Elmer
**Note: Huts are elevated structures accessed via steps
There are 4 steps to enter the hut. There are no handrails and the steps are quite steep.
There are double doors. The master door is 90cm wide
The total floor area is 215cm x 488cm
The double bed is 80cm high
There are 4 chairs are arranged around a 70cm high table, which is on hinges and may be stowed away. The table is quite heavy
Two single mattresses are also included which are stored under the double bed
A wood burning stove provides heating
Shepherd's Hut Nutmeg
**Note: Huts are elevated structures accessed via steps
There are 5 steps to enter the hut. There is one handrail and the steps are compliant.
There are double doors. The master door is 67cm wide and 175cm high
The total floor area is 228cm x 490cm
The double bed is 45cm high
A small double futon is also included
A wood burning stove provides heating
Sauna Facilities
⚠️ **Important Safety Note:**
Extreme heat makes metal wheelchairs and mobility aids impractical and dangerous in sauna environments.
If you have any accessibility concerns about using the saunas, please email before booking.
Location:
Beside waterfall in natural setting
Located 100m from bathrooms, drinking water tap and main reception building
Path surface: there are stepping stones across the grass and around the sauna area, and due to the water in the cold plunges, these can become slippery.
Located in a dark sky area and lighting is limited at night. There are ambient festoon lights surrounding the outside of the area, providing some low level lighting to the saunas. Torches are recommended when booking sessions during dark hours.
Barrel Sauna:
Access via a log step (no handrail)
Low doorway - must duck to enter
Doorway width: 60cm
Internal space: Limited, high-level bench seating
Floor: Wooden, can be slippery when wet
Cube Sauna:
Ground level access

Internal space: seating across two levels (high and low)
Floor: Wooden, can be slippery when wet
Plunge Pool:
Natural rock pool, approximately 5m x 4.5m, 1m deep
Entry: Sandstone paving slab steps - built up stone walls at entry point can be used for support **Note: These are natural stone walls, not purpose-built handrails
Most adults can stand, but pool size means you may be 2-3m from the nearest edge
Uneven, slippery bottom throughout
Swimming ability required due to pool size, cold shock, and slippery surfaces. Not suitable for non-swimmers or weak swimmers
Waterfall Area:
Natural terrain, slippery rocks, loose rocks in watercourse can fall from waterfall
Uneven surfaces
Variable water flow
Mobility Considerations:
Wheelchairs:
Natural terrain makes wheelchair access very challenging
Most of site has uneven ground, slopes, and natural obstacles
Current campsite bathrooms are not part M compliant. We are in the process of designing new accessible facilities
Walking Aids:
Uneven terrain may be difficult with walking frames or crutches
Limited Mobility:
Pitch 9 is the closest camping pitch to facilities, followed by the XL pitch.
Clover is the closest shepherd’s hut to the facilities, followed by Daisy and Elmer
Bench seating is provided on the deck outside reception
The distance from pitch 1 to reception and bathrooms is 200m
Sensory Considerations
Lighting:
Natural daylight during day
Campsite is located in a dark sky area and the campsite road is not lit at night. Torches are recommended
Sauna area: festoon lighting to light area at night. The inside of the saunas do not have lighting but receive some ambient light from the fire and outdoor festoon lights
Noise:
Quiet site policy (no radios/speakers)
Natural sounds: birds, waterfall
Remote location
Visual:
Directional signs at main decision points
Natural/rustic style consistent with woodland setting
Signage relies on natural daylight - limited artificial lighting
No tactile markers or audio wayfinding currently available

Service Animals
Assistance dogs welcome throughout the site
⚠️ Dogs cannot enter the sauna (extreme heat dangerous for animals)

What We Cannot Accommodate
Due to the natural, rural nature of our site:
We cannot provide level, paved access throughout
Sauna facilities are not wheelchair accessible
Some facilities require navigating uneven terrain

Emergency Procedures
For serious emergencies call emergency services 999
There is a fire bell located next to pitch 9, parking, and the main reception area which can be use in case of a fire
Nearest A&E is located in Port Talbot, 13.4 miles or a 30 minute drive away
There is always an emergency contact on site who can be reached through 01639 865485
The staff live in the farmhouse through the gate to the left of reception and can be found there in the unlikely event that the phone is unanswered
